To: Speaker Sheldon Silver and Majority Leader John Sampson Continuing to allow the ESDC to delegate decision-making on Atlantic Yards to Forest City Ratner doesnít work for Brooklyn, and it wonít work for New York. The State's open-ended agreement with the developer makes it practically impossible for the public to get value for its investment in the project without dedicated oversight. We call on you to do everything in your power to pass without delay Assembly bill A11431 and Senate bill S08193 directing the Empire State Development Corporation (ESDC) to create a subsidiary to oversee the planning and construction of Atlantic Yards. We further call on you to insist the ESDC include on the subsidiaryís board outside directors appointed in consultation with local elected officials. Itís long past time for Atlantic Yards to be held to the same standard of accountability as other large State projects. Sincerely, The Undersigned:
