Summary
Habitat
for Humanity International (HFHI) is seeking a dedicated professional for
the position of Urban Planning Specialist, Haiti Disaster Response. The
Urban Planning Specialist is a key player who will seek to expand the role
and capacity of HFHI in response to the unique conditions and needs of those
affected by the earthquake in Haiti. This position works closely with the
headquarter office. This position is based at our office in Port Au Prince,
Haiti..
Responsibilities Include :
•
Identify
and initiate urban housing projects by formulating city-based land
identification strategy, undertaking land suitability assessments, and
negotiating land acquisition
•
Develop
plan for appropriate housing, infrastructure services, recreation and
amenities, taking into consideration the higher density environment
•
Design
integrated living environments including urban planning, legal transfer and
registration, land survey and subdivision
•
Develop
urban housing solutions that take into account the following elements:
•
Spiritual/social:
community formation, social transformation, social services including
health, education, daycare, etc.
•
Economic:
food gardens, income generation, etc.
•
Establish
economic and social development partnerships by forming joint venture
partnerships to finance, build, and operate social facilities, income
generation and food production programs in parallel with physical
development initiatives
•
Manage
associated multidisciplinary consultant teams
•
Provide
inputs to HFHI Haiti’s strategic planning process with regard to the Haiti
Disaster Response
•
Assist
with other projects as assigned
