Laura Sachs

Senior Construction Specialist, New York City School Construction Authority

Laura is an architect, currently working as a Senior Construction Specialist for the New York City School Construction Authority after spending 30+ years in the private sector. Laura has experience with a variety of project types, including hotels, medical and corporate interiors, and multi-family and single-family housing, residential renovations in New York City and Long Island.

Laura has a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Syracuse University and a Master’s degree in Urban Design from Columbia University and has worked for several architectural firms including Archetype Architecture NYC, M. Castedo Architects, DSM Design Group/ Marx Development Group, ADL III Architecture, Hoffman Grayson Architects and Cannon Design.

Laura is an avid cyclist and is active with several advocacy groups supporting “Vision Zero” safe streets addressing pedestrian and biking safety issues, as well as supporting bus lanes and mass transit improvements. Laura serves on the West 72 Street Block Association and is co-chair of the committee for maintenance and improvement of street trees.
